The presidential election of 2016 has finally come to an end with a shocking result. It seemed to be a firm belief of pollsters that the US election result could only announce an overwhelming win for the democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. However, as the time moved slowly to the final hour a shocking realization overtook some Americans. Trump had generated a lead and it was not a small one either. The question that is on everyone’s lips now is how this will impact the future of United States, and that of the whole world.

In her speech following the announcement of Trump’s win, Hillary sounded hurt was barely able to stop her tears overwhelming her. She clearly announced the pain in these words; “I know how disappointed you feel because I feel it too”. Clinton also called Donald Trump to congratulate him and offered to work with him following the US election result. The candidate’s concession speech was heard by millions around the world and was said to be quite emotional and inspiring. As the lead democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton put on a great fight against Trump. She seemed genuinely surprised by the results of the election.
Trump’s winning speech
In a loud crowd of supporters, Donald Trump spoke with clear happiness on his face and that of his family and campaign members. While some expected that following the US election result Trump might say something insensitive about his opponent in the glory of his win. But he mentioned Hillary in good words during his speech. The crowd also showed respect at the mention of Hillary’s name. During his speech, Trump called for a united country where the rights of all the citizens would be taken care of. He also talked about extending friendly relationships with countries that wanted the same.
Celebrity Reactions to Trump’s win
A majority of A-list actors and actresses seemed to be against Trump and were displaying genuine expressions of shock on Twitter following the US election result. Some called it a win for Putin while others seemed downright disappointed. On particularly noticeable reaction to the US election result was that of Kunal Nayyar who said that it was the first time in 15 years that he had ever felt scared because of the skin color he had.
Protests against the election results
Following the announcement of US election result a lot of Hillary supporters and people who opposed Trump, in general, took to the streets in protest against the outcome of the election. The protestors blocked the Fifth Avenue in New York as they started to move towards Trump Towers. The President-elect Mr. Trump had been lying low in there. The protestors also gathered in several other parts of the country. They displayed signs that said that Trump is “not our president”. How Donald Trump will handle this pressure following the US election result is yet to be seen.
